Last Page for this Chapter

Knowledge and memories will not be forgotten. It is now the 4th Grading, the last quarter. I excelled my skills in Photoshop and now, I'm writing the last blog that I will post as a requirement for this subject.

This chapter of my life is soon to end. Being a transfer student and being in the Maxwell family here in Ilocos Sur National High School, I experienced many things that are new to me and learned lessons that are more than what can be taught from a book. Everything seems like a dream to me. But I'm glad that this is the reality, for I know that meeting and having these people, my schoolmates and teachers, in my life is more than the happiness someone can feel in finding a hidden treasure. I consider them as valuable people who taught me so many things, gave me memories to keep, and moments to reminisce in the future. This is not just a phase or adventure I need to pass because I know that these will remain in my heart in my whole lifetime. I don't regret studying in my hometown and I will never regret meeting such persons.

In every class in ICT, I always think creatively even if I don't want to and I thank you for that, Ma'am Eve. You helped me enhance my interests regarding these computer 'thingzZz'. These blogs are also a fruit of your teachings, Ma'am. If it wasn't for this, maybe I won't get to express how I wanted being here and being one of your students.

Thank you for all the lessons, care, and patience, teachers and thank you for the love, Maxwell.

The Fruit of Aspiration

Fulfilling something you wanted to do and to have is so overwhelming. How much more if it is your dream that you achieved?

Everyone of us have dreams and ambitions. For me, I don't really care about what I'll become in the future, as long as I love what I will do and there's nothing bad in it, I'll pursue it for myself and my happiness.

Moving up and completing junior high school is the start of the real journey. We're now incoming senior high school students, and I hope that all of us, Maxwell and Marconi, to be successful one day, and to attain what we want to be in the near future.

Aspiring is a great thing. We can be whoever and whatever we want to. We can all harvest the fruit of our hardships or difficulties, sacrifices, and pain as we close the last page in this book, a book of us being in junior high school. Just work harder and be open to more challenges for us to obtain our dreams in life.

Commemorating the Premise

It allows the weight of the structure to go into the ground without sinking. In an organization, foundation is where the strength of the sectors are build. And for this, we show gratitude for those who build the foundation of a school.

The High School Day of Foundation Day of Ilocos Sur National High School is celebrated annually. There are events such as parade, field demonstration of every grade level, and coronation of Mr. and Ms. ISNHS. Bulletin boards are posted to keep everyone in touch with the schedule of the programs.

This celebration is an important milestone each year, where we show our gratitude for the wisdom, courage, and commitment demonstrated by those who contributed to the establishment of the school.

This day is an exciting day for the school and provides students, staffs, parents, and guests alike an opportunity to reflect on the growth of the school's bright future waiting ahead.

A Way of Thanksgiving

Kannawidan is an Ilocano term meaning feast of rich heritage and culture. Celebrating Kannawidan is a way of sustaining the traditions of Ilocano people and promoting tourism of Ilocandia.

The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival draws local and foreign tourists as more entertaining events like celebrity and band performances, had been added in the celebrations.

This celebration also helps the tourism industry boost the demand of the province’ products through the fair which is open to anyone, even foreign tourists. Programs are also held such as job and livelihood opportunities which can benefit the community and help them nurture their family.

Reviving the culture which is almost forgotten by the new generations is also one of the celebration’s significance. It can familiarize the youth to the things our ancestors used to do because of the technology eating their minds and actions up.

It is also a good platform to showcase talents of different persons, specially the youth. These contests can help them through the high-amount prices supported by the city officials.

It is the Ilocanos' way of giving thanks to the Almighty not only for the bountiful blessings but also for the rich heritage of the city, including the close family ties among the Ilocanos.

To Be a Better Me

A simple word yet hard to do. Change is not easy to make, but if we do our best and push ourselves to do better, we can achieve it.

I might fall, be hurt, and lose hope, but instead of giving up, I know I need to pick myself up, learn, be motivated, and fulfill what I aspire to make. Sure, there are people who care for me and help me at times, but when nobody else does, who will remain still? I, myself, will be the only one who will be there for me.

Changing doesn't start with no one else but you. If you start improving yourself and do things your way, you can be happy, as long as what you do doesn't hurt other people. I can dispatch the bad habits I have and do good things I wasn't used to in order to develop myself and grow holistically.

It is our choice still. If we start the change, we can share it to others so that all of us can be the better version of ourselves.

Here Comes Fiesta, Here Comes Fun!

Every January 25, Vigan City Fiesta is held. Biguenos treat this occassion very special that even some of them who's in abroad goes home to join their families and friends in the celebration of their fiesta. This fiesta is dedicated to St. Paul the Apostle, the city's patron saint, and is celebrated during the feast day of his conversion. Vigan’s main church, the Metropolitan Cathedral is dedicated to St. Paul and it stands at the core of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. The major Catholic educational institution in Vigan that stands beside the church is also dedicated to the patron, the St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur. The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan, which is commemorated every January 27.

The cultural shows, parades and street dancing food fairs, arts and crafts exhibits, as well as a visiting carnival prepared by the local government and communities are joined by thousands of visitors also from other parts of the Philippines and tourists from other countries. It has become a national event due to participation of near provinces on its activities and street dancing competition.

Longganisa Festival is also celebrated during the fiesta. There is a longganisa-themed parade within the Vigan City Fiesta days. At one time, they attempted to set a record for having the longest longganisa ever made. The festival has become a crowd-drawer as Vigan longganisa, a native version of Mexican salami, has a distinct garlicky taste that has become a favorite of the Filipino palate. Even though some tried to copy Vigan longganisa, they weren’t able to make it. Biguenos attribute this to the fact that the making of Vigan longganisa is a centuries-old tradition of the local makers and all if not most of the ingredients used in making the native sausage is sourced from Vigan. One of the great take-home gifts are the vinegar and sugarcane wines from the city.

Celebrating these kind of occasions help nurture our ancestors’ heritage and make everyone close to each other in order to have a more peaceful and united community.

Start of A New Journey

For the past year, I was veiled with stress and sadness. Fortunately, I have my friends and family who made me feel better and enjoy my time. Many environmental issues and problems regaridng life has also bloomed last 2019. This new year, I just hope everything goes well.

The first month of 2020 has not yet ended but tragedies, calamities, and problems have been encountered rapidly. Earthquakes, floods, the almost World War 3, wildfires, and volcanic eruptions has brought worries for people around the world. However, I still hope that this year has a lot more happiness and success to everyone rather than pain and hopelessness.

What I wish for this year is peace, love, and humanity so that all of us can live better in this world. Conquering the negative can help us change our bad ways of living and lead us to a destination where we're supposed to be.

Knowing more not just about books but specially learning in life is my goal for 2020. I would like myself to reach a better version for this year and onwards.
