Being Sporty Can Make You Happy!

The Intramurals of Ilocos Sur National High School was a success. The activities and games are entertaining and helpful not just to the players, but also to the students and teachers of the school.

Players trained hard for the Intrams and what they practiced was brought up at the day of the contest. Everyone showed their eagerness to win and the others who did not get the chance to win were sport.

On first day of the program, the Opening and elimination round for various sports were held. While on the second day, the Zumba was performed early in the morning together with the participation of the teachers and students of ISNHS.

There were also booths made by different clubs for additional enjoyment of the students. Everyone had fun during the Intramurals.

Having a Vigilant Science

When we hear the word 'Science', the first thing that may come to our mind is technology. However, science is not just all about techies and inventions.

In this year's Science Month Celebration, the Science and YES-O Club prepared activities for the students of ISNHS. One of the highlights of these activities are the Trashion Show and of course, the search for Ginoo at Binibining Kalikasan 2019.

These programs are making student-candidates to promote proper waste management and recycling because the costumes that they will wear for the contest proper is made of recyclable and indigenous materials. In the G. at Bb. Kalikasan, the participants will also be answering environment-related questions. This way, they can express their feelings and suggestions for the betterment of our nature.

There are also Science Quiz Bee for all grade levels. Science Exhibit and Sci-Trix are also one of the most exciting part of the Science Month Celebration.

All of these programs are encouraging students to use science in a good way, especially to the environment. Science can be a big help to our nature, and so are everyone.

Engage Ourselves with Our Native Languages

Buwan ng Wika is a celebration of the Filipinos for the national language of the country. It is given importance and is celebrated every August of the year not just in government offices but also in public places and educational institutions.

This year, the theme of the celebration is “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino”. It gives focus on the native languages of the country such as Tagalog, Iloko, Bisaya, and many more. There are programs conducted in schools to share and encourage the youth to foster the languages more.

Indeed, there are already many foreign languages in the Philippines that are being learned and used by many Filipinos. But, it is a must that we don’t forget our own languages. Just like what the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, said, those who don’t love his own language is worse than a slimy fish. Filipino language is ours so we should be the ones using and loving it. We must learn to value our own language to be a true Filipino, by blood and by heart.
