Next to the Last Grading

Participating in the Regional Schools Press Conference made me miss some lessons in the 3rd grading period. That is why I am struggling sometimes but I am thankful to have my helpful classmates for answering my questions regarding the lessons I've missed.

But still, I learned more about web page, HTML tags and making blogs. It was fun exploring the purpose of tags and designing my own web page.

Since third grading will soon end, and new year is nearing, here's to more tech-knowledge, 2020!

It's True Meaning

It's not about the presents or gifts, decorations, food, and money. It's all about giving love and having fun with your loved ones.

Many people claim to not feel the spirit of Christmas in the past few years. But I guess they just have to find Jesus in their hearts because after all, it is the celebration for His birthday. He is supposed to be the very first to be remembered in this occasion.

Hearing kids gathering in the streets, singing the most iconic Christmas songs is one of the highlight of this celebration. There are people sharing presents to the unfortunate which makes me hope more that our world is still good, even with the struggles we encounter.

Spending Christmas with your family and beloved is the most heartwarming. That is priceless than receiving lots of gifts, eating bunch of foods, and other material things you can get.

No More Inferiority

Ever since, men are seen as more powerful, superior, and dominating human beings. Women have no voice to stand up because the community tells them not to, because they are seen weaker, less smarter, and incapable of things which are most likely done by men.

However, these mindset has to stop. Men and women should be treated equally. Because of VAWC (Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004), females and children are protected from physical and psychological abuse.

Gender does not justify for one to experience violence. All of us are created equally. We must help each other be a better person and not make them feel inferior.

We must learn from our ancestors' mistakes of letting men abuse the power they had. Right now, women are proving to everybody that they can and they will fight for their rights.

It is Our Responsibility

The things we use for our everyday life come from the natural resources we have. All of that are produced by our environment. Within the past years, we can see a big difference on the situation of our nature right now. It means our environment is getting destroyed, day by day.

Being aware of what’s happening to our nature is a big deal. We must learn to conserve and clean to help save our Mother Earth. Celebrating the National Environmental Awareness Month this November 2019 is a step to saving our planet. Awareness is the very first thing everyone should have and others will follow. This celebration will help give everyone a heads up about the situation of Mother Nature.

All of us need to help each other in order to help our environment gain its previous figure. It is for ourselves, too anyway, and for the future generations who will live in this world.

Significance of the Young Ones

Childhood makes a character of a person and it is one of the most joyous part of life. That is why nurturing a child means a lot to their parents and to the community. We must guide the youth to make them ready for their future.

This November, the National Children’s Month is celebrated. The theme is Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan” in connection to emphasize their rights as a child and as a person.  It is to recognize the importance of children in a community and let them enjoy further being a child. One of the activities of Vigan City is a parade for the youngsters. Also, letting them experience to work like a city official to prepare them for the job they want to pursue in the future.

In helping the children grow up beautifully, from the inside to outside, we can help the country in having better generations for tomorrow.

Be the Better Person

Value denotes the degree of importance of some thing or action, with the aim of determining what actions are best to do or what way is best to live, or to describe the significance of different actions. It can be defined as broad preferences concerning appropriate courses of actions or outcomes. Thus, values are needed to be taught to children so they can use these good deeds to make the world a better place to live in.

In connection with this, Values Month is celebrated in schools with the theme of “Pamilyang Pilipino Patatagin: Susi sa Paghubog ng Kabataang Makadiyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, at Makabansa”. Through this, students can share the knowledge and talents they have by the activities and contests prepared by EsP (Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao) club officers.

These kind of interactions will make the youth more active and learn more about how to be a righteous person. Especially nowadays that many people have bad intentions towards others, the youth can be really the hope of the future by obtaining discipline, wiseness, responsibility, and doing the right thing. This way, the place can be more peaceful and love can prosper all around the world.

Unity is Present, Always Competent

Ever since October 24, 1948, the celebration of the United Nations already took place. It was suggested by the General Assembly to be recognized as a public holiday to its member states. Being one of the United Nations, Philippines see to it that even schools take part in the said celebration.

 UN Celebration

United Nations is an organization which contributes to achieve a better world by promoting human rights, social progress and world peace. It seeks to improve maternal health, to combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases, to ensure environmental sustainability, and to develop a global partnership for development.

This year was declared as the International Year of Indigenous Languages. In Ilocos Sur National High School, the Social Studies Club lead the commemoration by conducting activities such as quiz bees, and one of the most awaited, the highlight of the celebration, the Search for Mr. and Ms. UN 2019. Participants represented different countries which are members of the United Nations. They wore traditional costumes from various places to show the culture of the country they represented. The event was indeed a good show both for teachers and students.

It is important for everyone to know and value this kind of celebrations because it is to show our gratitude for the right leaders who really care about international issues and makes progress to have a better world for us and for the future generations.

Second Grading Reflection

Another quarter has passed. New informations were obtained. But among that, these new knowledge taught me that there are indeed deeper reasons of the things we only see shallow. This grading, I learned all about Hypertext Mark-up Language and its different kind of tags. I have known that these tags are used to apply designs and various formats of texts. I know someday, I can use these things for good and learn more from it.

Looking forward, I hope the next grading will also teach me a lot and help me develop the things I know.

They Teach, They Preach

Engineers, architects. doctors, politicians, soldiers, and other works the world can offer, but being a teacher, for me, matters the most.

Teaching is a very hard work. patience, perseverance, and love are most needed if you want to be a teacher. patience for your students, perseverance to fulfill your mission as a teacher, and love for what you are doing. Yes, there are so many jobs out there but why is being a teacher important? It's because all those jobs and workers won't materialize if there are no teachers who built and helped them become what they are.

Celebration of teachers' Day in Ormoc City

In this case, people want top celebrate Teachers' day to express their gratitude towards the heroes of education. In Ilocos Sur National High School, the teachers received surprises, flowers, gifts, cakes, and other presents from their beloved students. There was also a concert held for them to really enjoy their special day. Celebrations for them mean a lot to me. Afterall, behind their strict attitudes, loud voices, and frightening stares, I know there are soft hearts, tears, sweat, effort, money, and time that they give to us instead for themselves or their family, just to guide us towards success in life. And I know they also experience difficulties parting their time on their families and work so I think they do deserve a rest, even just for a day.

They want us to be stable, successful, and happy in the future. they preach their beliefs and knowledge on how we can develop ourselves to be the best we can be. They sometimes spend money and sacrifice their happiness just to help us. Even though the teachers don't have the biggest salary among other works and professions, they do the biggest works for their fellow people, specially to the youth. So let's all give them our support and show our love for our beloved teachers.

Being Sporty Can Make You Happy!

The Intramurals of Ilocos Sur National High School was a success. The activities and games are entertaining and helpful not just to the players, but also to the students and teachers of the school.

Players trained hard for the Intrams and what they practiced was brought up at the day of the contest. Everyone showed their eagerness to win and the others who did not get the chance to win were sport.

On first day of the program, the Opening and elimination round for various sports were held. While on the second day, the Zumba was performed early in the morning together with the participation of the teachers and students of ISNHS.

There were also booths made by different clubs for additional enjoyment of the students. Everyone had fun during the Intramurals.

Having a Vigilant Science

When we hear the word 'Science', the first thing that may come to our mind is technology. However, science is not just all about techies and inventions.

In this year's Science Month Celebration, the Science and YES-O Club prepared activities for the students of ISNHS. One of the highlights of these activities are the Trashion Show and of course, the search for Ginoo at Binibining Kalikasan 2019.

These programs are making student-candidates to promote proper waste management and recycling because the costumes that they will wear for the contest proper is made of recyclable and indigenous materials. In the G. at Bb. Kalikasan, the participants will also be answering environment-related questions. This way, they can express their feelings and suggestions for the betterment of our nature.

There are also Science Quiz Bee for all grade levels. Science Exhibit and Sci-Trix are also one of the most exciting part of the Science Month Celebration.

All of these programs are encouraging students to use science in a good way, especially to the environment. Science can be a big help to our nature, and so are everyone.

For a Better and Happier Learning Journey

The Department of Education aims to make every school a place wherein students can enjoy despite the difficulties of the learning progress. Because of this, they launched the Happy Schools Movement, a program in which the students' full potential will be given attention through the happy and positive school culture.

Some of these advocacy themes are:

Engage Ourselves with Our Native Languages

Buwan ng Wika is a celebration of the Filipinos for the national language of the country. It is given importance and is celebrated every August of the year not just in government offices but also in public places and educational institutions.

This year, the theme of the celebration is “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino”. It gives focus on the native languages of the country such as Tagalog, Iloko, Bisaya, and many more. There are programs conducted in schools to share and encourage the youth to foster the languages more.

Indeed, there are already many foreign languages in the Philippines that are being learned and used by many Filipinos. But, it is a must that we don’t forget our own languages. Just like what the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, said, those who don’t love his own language is worse than a slimy fish. Filipino language is ours so we should be the ones using and loving it. We must learn to value our own language to be a true Filipino, by blood and by heart.

My Contemplation Regarding the First Grading Period

My younger self will always ask about random things, imagine how they work and how they originated, and will always end up forgetting about it because I don’t have any idea regarding the questions in my mind.

Internet is one of those things I kept on wondering about. Fortunately, it was one of our first lessons in ICT.  I learned how it works, who invented it, and what are its uses. Actually, you are using it right now, maybe for entertainment, aren’t you?

Regardless of having many subjects to study, the quizzes, requirements, and projects in ICT and other subjects are causing stress to students like me. However, we need to deal with these hardships in order to achieve our dreams because you know you are improving if you are experiencing difficulties.

Anyways, I await the opportunity to attain more knowledge in the next grading period. New challenges and tasks, more lessons stacked in my little mind. Here I am, hoping for the better, moving on to the next chapter.

Why do We Need to be Prepared?

Filipinos should be ready for disasters. Our country lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire which causes large numbers of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions we can’t avoid. We cannot control the disasters but at some point, we can lessen its effect to our beloved nation.

Philippine government wants everybody to be prepared for destructive disasters that might hit our country, that’s why there is a “National Disaster Resilience Month”. This program has a theme, “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago”. It advocates preparedness for disasters to Filipinos for them to be aware of the damage and loss they can get when a disaster comes. It means that we should change our habits that doesn’t contribute in being ready for catastrophes. Being ready and prepared brings so much effect when different kinds of disasters strike our country. It makes us know what to do before, during, and after the disaster. This program helps everyone to lessen the damages brought by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, tsunami, and other disasters.

Everyone should be aware that anything could happen anytime and anywhere so we should be prepared and ready whenever nature brings us harm. Let's start the change from within ourselves, let's be disciplined, for us to save each other from the threat of nature.

Nutrified Filipinos, Soon

The nutrition of every human being is essential. Our government wants everyone to be healthy. In this case, they made a program to celebrate Nutrition Month.

Every year, the Department of Health creates a theme for the Nutrition Month. This year, it is "Nutrition Month Celebration: Kumain ng Wasto at Maging Aktibo, Push Natin ‘To!". This helps to encourage and make everyone remember to eat healthy and nutritious foods, take good care of our health, and be active in our everyday lives.

Being one of the countries that has the most number of malnourished children, the government made this celebration take part in schools, too.

There are feeding programs held and activities to showcase the students’ creativity in making nutritious foods for their schoolmates and teachers. This way, students not just get to eat healthy foods but also, they can show their talent to everyone.

Always remember, being healthy is one of the keys to be a successful person. Let's not disappoint ourselves and start living a healthy life.

Being Ready for an Earthquake

Every year, National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill is done by schools and government offices for the sake of earthquake preparedness. No one knows when an earthquake will strike so authorities conduct programs like these to make people aware and for everyone to know what and what not to do during an earthquake.

School staffs and government authorities are expected to lead the simultaneous earthquake drill. Practices on what to do to save one’s life will be done on this day. Everyone expect that people will take this seriously because earthquake is not a joke. But still, some students don’t see the importance of this program. Nonetheless, officials continuously teach everybody first aids and how to avoid accidents during an earthquake.

During this program, officials don’t just teach how to be prepared but also on matters like fire accidents and other relative incidents.

This earthquake drill helps a lot to every human alive. It can save us during the dangerous earthquake that might strike in our place. Earthquake is a big threat to our lives and environment so I hope we will all learn something from this program and be aware on what to do when an earthquake occurs.

Una Carta al Presidente

June 13, 2019

Mr. Rodrigo R. Duterte,

I would like you to know that your love for our country and your agreeable advocates are being admired by a student like me. Your leadership to your fellowmen is good even though some doesn’t like it. I also want to thank you for the laws implemented that brought development to our country specially the ones that focuses on our environment.

Despite the admiration I have towards you as the Philippines’ president, I also want you to hear out my dismays. First, the issues and problems of our country that have not been resolved up to now, regarding that these issues are long overdue. One of these is concerning the waste management in the nation. Second, China causing harm to many Filipinos while doing their business in our territory. I am alarmed because those Filipinos’ jobs are affected all because of these Chinese invading the country. Third, the lack of justice to some persons killed despite their innocence. This issue came from the Extra Judicial Killing for the illegal drug users and pushers. Many are affected and in some ways, the government can’t do something about it. I know many people have their own disappointments regarding your actions having the highest position in our country. But for now, these are my concerns.

Please know that I hope for resolutions to these issues for the betterment of our country. I am willing to give my support in your next steps as long as your objectives will bring nothing but harm to the Philippines and our fellow Filipinos.

Sincerely,
Trisha Nicole S. Buenavista

Giving Back to the Heroes

Heroes of our country has done so much for us to have freedom. Up to now, this freedom is celebrated every year to remember their sacrifices and value their hardships to claim the beloved Philippines’ freedom.

This year, I know that our country will do the same as how we celebrate Independence Day. Little efforts are recognized not just in government offices and public places but also in schools, establishments, and even in our homes. Putting a small flag of our nation in our vehicles, house, and other places shows our participation and appreciation in the said celebration. Even in schools, students make a flag to represent themselves being united towards this occasion.

For the 121ST celebration of Independence Day, I look forward on Filipinos treating the occasion right, giving respect, and appreciating what our ancestors did for us to live like what we do right now.

The Person Behind the Blog

A petite, not so smart, not so pretty, and a religious girl. I currently live in Santa, Ilocos Sur. It was 15 years ago since I existed in this world. I can be childish most of the time but I still have deep perspective in life and principles which were a bit influenced by my parents.

My biggest dream is to fulfill my dreams, that's the reason why I'm pursuing my studies and I know I can do it because God is with me.
